Trends for 2007
It's the perfect time to get your outdoor space
ready for an enjoyable summer. Clear out the dreariness from the long
winter, freshen up the planters, trim the bushes, plant seed to fill in the
lawn, and pull out your lawn furniture.
 Whether
you have a huge yard or a small patio, you can make a whole new living space
out of your outdoor area. By placing comfortable furniture and flowering
plants into pots around the space, you can add to your living space and move
outdoors.
- The outdoor living boom has moved from being ‘just a
trend’ to a lifestyle! People are transforming their backyards into
"specialty" rooms with kitchens, bars, and entertainment
centers. An interesting twist on garden design; many homeowners are
developing garden areas to reflect their favorite vacation destination!
A recent Better Homes and Gardens survey confirms this
trend. The survey says that building a major garden or landscaping project
is the second most popular home improvement choice.

Homeowner's can find outdoor end tables, all-weather floor lamps, waterproof
art and even affordable entertainment sets along with the big and bold
flowers and plants. Island colors are coming on strong for 2007 garden
palettes. Some are referring to this as the ‘eco-chic’ movement.
The fashionable gardens in 2007 will present a sleek, contemporary look, with bold
lines, well-defined angles and an emphasis on colorful, exotic foliage
and flowers, and the newest trend; outdoor art!

- Super-size plants, including extra-large perennials and
gigantic containers spilling over with jewel-toned blooms are in. Native,
sustainable plants remain popular, too. Integrating ornamental and edible
plants will be huge this season. People don’t want just to work in their
gardens. They also want their gardens to work for them.
Evening use has also become more important. Busy lives result in limited
daylight hours for leisure. Outdoor lamps in a variety of shapes, sizes
and power supplies are strong considerations. Here is a selection of
